How long does acetaminophen stay in your system for?

I have been taking vicodin for chronic back pain for over a year now. I have learned that the hydrocodone (opiate) stays in your system for 2-3 days, but how long does the acetaminophen part of the vicodin stay in your system for

  1. Bgrayless says:

It has a half-life of 4-6 hours. multiply the half life by five, you get 20 to 30 hours in the system. Between one and two days.

  2. Angirankin says:

It seems like this question might be about a work place drug test, if it is, you don't need to worry, acetaminophen doesn't turn up on drug tests.

.However, if I am wrong about that, the answer is that acetaminophen (and its metabolites) are identifiable for up to 48 hours after you took the pill. Less if you took tiny doses, but up to standard clinical doses (<8g), it's 48ish hours.

  3. Katrin says:

It all depends on how much Acetaminophen (Tylenol) you took. Overall it's half life is 2-4 hours, meaning if you took 1000 mg of Tylenol, in 2 to 4 hours, 500 mg is left, then after another 2 to 4 hours, 250 mg is left and so on.
